     <description><![CDATA[ <P><STRONG>Investment casting</STRONG> is also known as the lost wax process. This process is one of the oldest manufacturing processes. The Egyptians used it in the time of the Pharaohs to make gold jewelry (hence the name Investment) some 5,000 years ago. Intricate shapes can be made with high accuracy. In addition, metals that are hard to machine or fabricate are good candidates for this process. It can be used to make parts that cannot be produced by normal manufacturing techniques, such as turbine blades that have complex shapes, or airplane parts that have to withstand high temperatures. investment casting, investment castings </P>
<P>The mold is made by making a pattern using wax or some other material that can be melted away. This wax pattern is dipped in refractory slurry, which coats the wax pattern and forms a skin. This is dried and the process of dipping in the slurry and drying is repeated until a robust thickness is achieved. After this, the entire pattern is placed in an oven and the wax is melted away. This leads to a mold that can be filled with the molten metal. Because the mold is formed around a one-piece pattern, (which does not have to be pulled out from the mold as in a traditional sand casting process), very intricate parts and undercuts can be made.      <description><![CDATA[ <P>Sand casting is used to make large parts (typically Iron, but also Bronze, Brass, Aluminum). Molten metal is poured into a mold cavity formed out of sand (natural or synthetic). The processes of sand casting are discussed in this section, include patterns, sprues and runners, design considerations, and casting allowance. </P>

<P>The cavity in the sand is formed by using a pattern (an approximate duplicate of the real part), which are typically made out of wood, sometimes metal. The cavity is contained in an aggregate housed in a box called the flask. Core is a sand shape inserted into the mold to produce the internal features of the part such as holes or internal passages. Cores are placed in the cavity to form holes of the desired shapes. Core print is the region added to the pattern, core, or mold that is used to locate and support the core within the mold. A riser is an extra void created in the mold to contain excessive molten material.      <description><![CDATA[ <P>In a two-part mold, which is typical of sand castings, the upper half, including the top half of the pattern, flask, and core is called cope and the lower half is called drag. The parting line or the parting surface is line or surface that separates the cope and drag. The drag is first filled partially with sand, and the core print, the cores, and the gating system are placed near the parting line. The cope is then assembled to the drag, andthe sand is poured on the cope half, covering the pattern, core and the gating system. The sand is compacted by vibration and mechanical means. Next, the cope is removed from the drag, and the pattern is carefully removed. The object is to remove the pattern without breaking the mold cavity. This is facilitated by designing a draft, a slight angular offset from the vertical to the vertical surfaces of the pattern. This is usually a minimum of 1?or 1.5 mm (0.060 in), whichever is greater.      <description><![CDATA[Hot chamber machines are used primarily for zinc, copper, magnesium, lead and other low melting point alloys that do not readily attack and erode metal pots, cylinders and plungers. The injection mechanism of a hot chamber machine is immersed in the molten metal bath of a metal holding furnace. The furnace is attached to the machine by a metal feed system called a gooseneck. As the injection cylinder plunger rises, a port in the injection cylinder opens, allowing molten metal to fill the cylinder. As the plunger moves downward it seals the port and forces molten metal through the gooseneck and nozzle into the die cavity.      <description><![CDATA[Green sand-mold casting involves mixing sand with a suitable clay binder (usually a bentonite clay) and other additives, and packing the sand mixture tightly around a pattern that is constructed from the part design, but the pattern is not an exact replica of the part since various dimensional allowances must be made to accommodate certain physical effects. After extracting the pattern from the sand mold, a cavity is left behind that corresponds to the shape of the pattern. Next, molten metal is poured into this cavity and solidifies into a cast replica of the desired part.      <description><![CDATA[<P>The green sand moulding process requires sand, clay and water to be mixed together to form a mould material that can be compacted around a pattern to produce a mould. Water develops the bonding characteristics of the clay, which binds the sand together, when used in its moist condition it is referred to as green. The green sand process can be used to produce castings in both iron ,aluminium as well as copper based metals. The process allows 90% to 95% reclamation of material and so provides a low cost form of production.</P>
<P>Various high quality castings are made of gray iron, ductile iron, aluminum, steel, brass etc. Quality control checks are performed throughout the casting process form screening the raw material for stability the concentration of alloy and melted by the electric furnace. We analyze the chemical elements concentration of the alloy with spark spectrometer testing before castingAfter casting and heat treatment we continue testing by metallurgical microstructure analysis, as well as checking tensile, impact strength and surface hardness by physical test and magnetic particle etc.</P>

<P><STRONG><A href="http://www.aluminum-die-casting.cn/">Die-casting</A> can be done using a cold chamber or&nbsp;&nbsp; hot chamber process</STRONG> </P>
<P>1.In a cold chamber process, the molten metal is ladled into the cold chamber for each shot. There is less time exposure of the melt to the plunger walls or the plunger. This is particularly useful for metals such as Aluminum, and Copper (and its alloys) that alloy easily with Iron at the higher temperatures.</P>
<P>2.In a hot chamber process the pressure chamber is connected to the die cavity is immersed permanently in the molten metal. <P><STRONG>Common Alloys in Die Casting </STRONG></P>
<P>Aluminum, Zinc and Copper alloys are the materials predominantly used in die-casting. On the other hand, pure Aluminum is rarely cast due to high shrinkage, and susceptibility to hot cracking. It is alloyed with Silicon, which increases melt fluidity, reduces machinability. Copper is another alloying element, which increases hardness, reduces ductility, and reduces corrosion resistance. </P>
<P>Aluminum is cast at a temperature of 650  (1200 oF). It is alloyed with Silicon 9% and Copper about 3.5% to form the Aluminum Association 380 alloy (UNS A03800). Silicon increases the melt fluidity, reduces machinability, Copper increases hardness and reduces the ductility. By greatly reducing the amount of Copper (less than 0.6%) the chemical resistance is improved; thus, AA 360 (UNS A03600) is formulated for use in marine environments. A high silicon alloy is used in automotive engines for cylinder castings, AA 390 (UNS A03900) with 17% Silicon for high wear resistance. <P>Zinc can be made to close tolerances and with thinner walls than <A href="http://www.nbdiecasting.com/">Aluminum die casting</A>, due to its high melt fluidity. <P><A href="http://www.aluminum-die-casting.cn/">Die-castings </A>are typically limited from 20 kg (55 lb) max. for Magnesium, to 35 kg (77 lb) max. for Zinc. Large castings tend to have greater porosity problems, due to entrapped air, and the melt solidifying before it gets to the furthest extremities of the die-cast cavity. The porosity problem can be somewhat overcome by vacuum die casting </P>
<P>From a design point of view, it is best to design parts with uniform wall thicknesses and cores of simple shapes. Heavy sections cause cooling problems, trapped gases causing porosity. All corners should be radiused generously to avoid stress concentration. Draft allowance should be provided to all for releasing the parts-these are typically 0.25o to 0.75o per side depending on the material. </P>
